Workshop with Doctors in Distress - There is no healthcare without self-care. Presentation from summit
Ask a hundred people how they are, and the answer is Fine – Fearful Insecure Neurotic and Emotionally Imbalanced – this is the Denial mechanism. Ask a hundred doctors, nurses, health care professionals, managers and others with responsibilities – and they cannot answer – they are too busy looking after others. Yet we all know how crucial it is when our car runs out of fuel or breaks down on an important journey. So why do we, as Health Care Professionals , mortgage our own physical and psychological health?
The answers are actually quite simple, and the principles that underpin Health and Self Care are applied common sense. Be prepared to be stimulated, to remember, and to explore how to understand and take control of the Autonomic Nervous System and the stress response, the Drama Triangle and other topics. Why would we not put our own oxygen mask on first……? www.healthandself.care has many of the answers – or at least, encourages us to remember them! We are Huumans - A Physical, Mental and Workplace Wellbeing Platform
Join us for a session that explores the fascinating connection between habits, behaviour design, and organisational culture. We will delve into how habits and behaviours shape the culture within Practices and PCN's and provide practical insights on how to drive positive changes in the workplace. This session also highlights the challenges people face when trying to make lasting changes and offers solutions to help individuals and teams succeed in aligning their behaviours with their organisation's values.
Richard helps organisations design their Culture, and the behaviours and habits that create great outcomes. He has spent the last 18 years working across the Health and Social Care sector nationally (NHSE, LMC's, ICS PCN's, Primary and Secondary Care), has worked with the world’s largest global companies (Finance, FMCG, Tech) and left his career at the John Lewis Partnership to help solve the workforce and culture challenges across Mental Health and LD Services.
Richard is a Behaviour Design expert and is part of Stanford University Prof BJ Fogg (Netflix, The Social Dilemma) Behaviour Design and Habits alumni. He lives in The New Forest with his family.
Workshop with Robert Gebka - Prevent Burnout and enhance your wellbeing with evidence-based mindfulness strategies
Here for Each Other Staff Wellbeing Service – WellNet Dorset
Overwhelm and burnout is something we can all experience from time to time, especially in the current landscape of working within the healthcare sector. Mindfulness is an evidence based cognitive attention training scientifically shown to lower stress, anxiety and depression. It is approved by the NHS as well as the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Although mindfulness alone cannot solve the systemic challenges, regular mindfulness practice, as part of our overall self-care routine, can help us improve our concentration, raise self-awareness, enhance our sense of self-compassion as well as general mental wellbeing. This mini taster session will: Introduce mindfulness in a practical way, explore the psychology of burnout and offer a self-coaching toolkit for navigating your own sense of mental wellbeing.
Robert Gebka is a Health & Wellbeing Coach with the NHS Dorset Here for Each other Staff Wellbeing Service. He is a qualified Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction facilitator having trained with the University of California San Diego Centers for Integrative Health, USA. Robert spent five years at a Zen Buddhist monastery in South Africa where he studied mindfulness based psychology and human behaviour. He is also an accredited counsellor and the author of Managing Depression with Mindfulness for Dummies. Robert's interest in coaching has been inspired through his own healing journey through PTSD and depression and it is this very journey that has inspired his passion in empowering others in their own efforts towards a greater sense of resilience, emotional wellbeing and mindful living. He is an accredited member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society as well as the British Association of Mindfulness Based Approaches. He lives in Bournemouth with his wife and their four-year-old daughter and whenever time allows he enjoys soaking up the sun at our beautiful local Dorset beaches.
